Hey friend! I'm Lina, the Pastry Chef & Owner of the Figs+Flour Baking Company. I’m so glad you’re here!
MY Story
Figs+Flour Baking Company (formerly Little Village Bakery) was born out of my passion to bring a little happiness to someones day. My love for all things sweet began as soon as I could see over the stove. I started making pies and cupcakes for friends and family during the holidays and slowly began expanding to fulfill orders for those who wanted something sweet. Fast forward some years and after spending a year in college, I decided it just wasn't for me. There I realized I wanted to pursue my culinary passion. After researching several culinary programs, I found The French Culinary Institute's (now the International Culinary Center) Pastry Arts program & fell in love! I learned crazy awesome French techniques, sugar art, cake decorating, bread making, and so much more! After months of intense training I graduated as a Pastry Chef in 2010. From that day on there has been no stopping me in my dream of opening a place all my own to share sweets+flavorful food with the world!
Most days I can be found busy in the kitchen creating new and exciting recipes or whipping up a batch of my soft chocolate chunk cookies just because! I love baking and cooking with my 4 kiddos and teaching others what I know in my fun workshops. From cookies and wedding cakes, tender pork shoulder and my seriously delicious chicken salad. There are just so many things I enjoy creating.
Orders are created in my tiny home bakery, where the sky’s the limit, Thursday-Saturday. My Sundays are spent with family in church and then at home around a big Sunday dinner, where of course, there's dessert!
